SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER Schedule for IN A MELLOW TONE

Dear Jazz Fan,

Attached below is the SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER schedule for "IN A MELLOW TONE". I hope that you will appreciate the variety of music that you can hear in the next two months, ranging from Louis Armstrong and Bing Crosby to Thelonious Monk, Steve Lacy and Roswell Rudd.
In the more general programs there'll be a great range of jazz and blues styles represented, as usual.

Speaking of Thelonious Monk, we at CKCU will be doing something rather special on October 10 to celebrate the 90th anniversary of his birth; there will be three consecutive feature programs on Monk on Roots & Rhythms [8:00-9:00pm], on In A Mellow Tone [9:00 -11:00pm] and on Rabble Without A Cause [11:00pm - round about midnight]. So don't forget to tune in when you've voted!

And this is a good time to alert you that CKCU's annual FUNDING DRIVE will run this year from Friday October 19 to Sunday November 4; please mark this in your diary and be ready to make your pledge to keep jazz on the airwaves. I don't have all the details yet, but can tell you that this year on In A Mellow Tone we'll be encouraging you all to pledge on behalf of your pets, who will then be acknowledged as official COOL CATS or HIP HOUNDS. We'll find suitably jazzy descriptions for ALL your pets; just try us!.

Playlists for each program are generally posted to my website a few days before the program airs. Check at: www.inamellowtone.com.

I really hope that you'll enjoy these programs; feel free to send me your comments at ronsweetman@kalixo.com.

Cheers,

Ron.
